Café Chapeau

Everything is so perfect here. From the friendly staff, nicely made drinks and freshly baked croissants. Highly recommend!

This café was such a delightful chance find during our walk through Luzern! We were tired, a little hungry and needing a quiet place to rest. On walking in, we discovered a charming old-world cafe atmosphere...our cappuccino and blueberry creamcheese slice was soothing and just what we needed. The hosts at the counter kindly answered the questions asked by my Indian friend in English and joked with me as she served us. All in all, a delightful experience!

Nice place right across the street from government buildings with the hall of lawmakers of Canton Lucerne. Enjoy the quiet second floor (place order at the counter in first floor) e.g. when waiting for the departure of the next tourist city train right around the corner.

Lovely place for breakfast or lunch. Beautiful atmosphere with outdoor and indoor seating. Good range of food, and a good chai latte which has been hard to find so far on my Europe trip!

Chapeau combines good coffee and tea with a beautiful setting and friendly service. The flavor and strength of the coffee are definitely above average for Luzern (it ain’t Italy!) and I love their ginger tea, which is based on an extract and not just a rinky-dink teabag floating in water with a slice of ginger (if you are lucky). In summer, it’s perfect out front in the sun with spots of shade; in winter, you can sit inside upstairs or down. Plenty of space. Heads up, though: it gets very loud inside. This is pretty much my go-to neighborhood cafe. I was so glad when it opened!

This was my first visit, and it turned out to be a truly pleasant experience. Yuup warmly welcomed me and ensured I could place my order before the kitchen closed, while the beautiful Julia attentively took care of any additional needs. Juup’s charisma and charming smile made a wonderful impression, and Julia’s warmth and kindness added to the overall experience. They were both incredibly accommodating, making me feel genuinely valued as a guest. I would definitely return again.

The best matcha latte I have ever had. I am still thinking about that coffee and wish to have it again someday I loved the cozy atmosphere too. And I am a total detail-freak and also a dreamer- the presentation was such a treat We didn’t have anything from the menu even though everything looked tempting. It was late february evening- we only wanted to get warm a bit and I’m so glad we did because I will be returning to this place
